Yasalenny

This year I moved from New York to the Dominican Republic for the first time. I had found out I was going to Doulos Discovery School which i was very excited about. My experiences at Doulos Discovery School were so amazing because I made lots of friends and everyone was friendly. I didn't expect this school to be like a family. Here we all work together, we help one another, and we always try to help others outside of school. This school is like a place where I feel free to learn, to talk, and to hang out with my friends. The teachers teach perfectly well, in a way where I understand everything. I will never forget Doulos because it has helped me with everything, and I have learned new things that I would never have learned in my hometown.

Doulos Sports Center

This year, like all past years, the most played sport was soccer. The new adquisition, though, has been the girls soccer team and the 5th grade and smaller kids team. The coach, Jose Rodriguez, got some very good matches for all teams. The girls played Carol Morgan, ANIJA Educational Center, Jarabacoa Christian School, Santiago Cristian School and La Salle from Santiago as well. The big and mid-size teams played Rolando Bauger, SCS, ANIJA, Foster Home "El Arca" and La Salle from Santiago. The smallest kids played "Escuela Agrícola", Jarabacoa Christian School and ANIJA. The teams won many matches, tied some and lost few. All of us are proud of what we have accomplished in soccer. If a rival school ever reads this post, you are welcome to come play against us. Thank you for reading this, whoever does. This is DDS speaking, the invincible.

Pond

We started studying ecology is how thing work together in nature. So Miss Emily thought is was a good idea to make a pond which show how thing work in nature and a pond was perfect for it .We started studying pumps and the shape that we wanted it to be.We measured the pond and used a formula which can indicate how many gallons the pond will hold.

Chad helped us a lot. He made the hole where the pond was going to be.Then the Prince of Peace Lutherian Church from Minnesota came to help us with the project of building the pond. We started with the rocks and putting it in rows.We took the rocks from one place to the other and stacking it in the hole where the pond is going to be.

Although it only took about a month to finish with the pond, it took an large amount of hard work and also came out so beautiful. Everyone from 4th grade and 9th and others really worked hard an it really payed of. When we see the pond and the garden at Doulos, we are proud of our hard work, and we just go there once an a while and enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful view and just relax. We hope that everyone as new students or just visitors enjoy it as much as we do and take care of it.
